“This is our heathen metal call to arms, raise your voices and write your destiny in blood!” – If that line from the first track on Twilight Of The Gods‘ album ‘Destiny Forged in Blood’ doesn’t make you want to buy or pay for a download of this album then I give up! Continue reading

VULTURE INDUSTRIES – “The Tower”
Schizophrenic Norwegian Metal is how this album is described on the labels little sticker found on the cellophane of the digipak. Yes folks, a cherished copy, such is the pleasure Vulture Industries bestow upon my soul. Continue reading
ROSETTA – “The Anaesthete”
Do you really like Cult Of Luna / Isis?
Do you like the idea of swirling melodies with impassioned growled vocals that constantly builds emotion and momentum through one track to the next? Continue reading
CROSSFAITH – “Apocalyze”
A buzz band that’s actually worth getting excited about, Crossfaith – along with fellow countrymen from Japan, Blood Stain Child – are bang on the money with their brand of Electro Metalcore.
Entering British consciousness with a bang that was the absolutely smashing “ZION EP” (still cheap on Bandcamp and worth getting just for the track “Jägerbomb”), several questions lingered… Continue reading
HUMILIATION – “Turbulence From The Deep”
Describing themselves as Malaysian Military Death Metal, Humiliation have made a decent name for themselves in the Malaysian scene, resulting in a number of higher profile shows in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, as well as multiple trips to Europe. I was lucky enough to discover them through a friend who had seen them perform at Metal Camp Kuala Lumpur, a higher profile show, which led me to see them at a show supporting Sadistic Intent (who never showed, leaving Humiliation as the headliners). Continue reading
EVOCATION – “Excised And Anatomized”
Known for their relatively unique sound Evocation utilised both aspects of Sweden’s famous death metal scene, that of the traditional crunchy Stockholm and then the later emerging Gothenburg scene with its stronger focus on melody. CARCASS – “Surgical Steel”
Carcass is a potential minefield when writing a review; a band pioneering so many sounds with differing groups of die-hard fans means whether the album is liked or not is going to be extremely relative. Continue reading

AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR – “All Hail Bright Futures”
When is a Post Rock album not really a Post Rock album?

PENTAGRAM (CHILE) – “The Malefice”
Pentagram (Chile) may be a name unfamiliar to many still, but they have been causing a stir for those with an ear to the ground since 1987.
Massively influential on so many of the major players of Death Metal and Black Metal today, they finally release their debut full length on September 6th.
So why is this such an important release and why have most people never had the privilege before? Why are bands like Napalm Death, At The Gates, Dark Throne, Avulsed, Destruction, Emtombed and Dismember huge fans… some of whom are guesting on this debut album…? Continue reading
