I was instantly excited about this release upon the release details being made public, I am a massive fan of Process Of Guilt‘s earlier work.
I was initially a little disappointed as I had been expecting more of the same quality Doom Death Metal, but the band have evolved to a different sound. Had I not had this preconceived expectation, I am sure I would have loved the album immediately, but instead it took some time to bed down and fully appreciate.
Gone are the longer tracks (although worth noting that the 5 tracks presented here clock in at an impressive 40+ minutes). The sound is now more dynamic, groovy, crushing and bathed in a sea of feedback, whilst benefiting from a more varied vocal approach.
Whilst I will still reach to their earlier material for an occasional fix of Doom Death, this is a fine intense slab of Dirty Stoner Doom Metal and deserves the ears of more folk. Check out without commitment below.
