I am not quite sure now how I stumbled across Oak Pantheon. However it was, the recollection has been eclipsed by the sheer brilliance of the music.
The band’s sound comprises Atmospheric, Folk and Black Metal elements, pulling on Post-Rock and an obvious love of Nature. The tracks are well written and structured; the sound is surprisingly mature for a relatively young band and calls to mind such long-standing acts as Agalloch. Their debut EP is available for free/pay what you like download from their Bandcamp page as well, well worth the purchase.
A truly compelling listen, each track pulls the listener through to the next and the next, without chance for distraction. The album is well rounded and a beautifully dark soundtrack for those Autumnal and Wintry evenings. Embrace the Season with an obvious soundtrack. I cannot wait to see the greatness of their next output.
