The latest instalment form the folk/progressive black metal ensemble included the welcome return of ICS Vortex (Dimmu Borgir, Arcturus). His clean vocals really suit the Borknagar asthetic, complimenting Vintersorg.

The album has some outstanding tracks, personal favourites are ‘Roots’ ‘The Earthling’ and ‘Frostrite’. I enjoyed Universal but this release is a step up combining the earlier back metal sound with soaring vocals.

One of the best releases this year to date for me, Isn’t it about time this band is invited to adorn the stage at the UK’s premier festival in Staffordshire THIS August?
