A 2011 release: Having decided to ‘take a punt’ on this album, after reading various positive comments from such metal luminaries as Alan Averill among others, I found myself curious as to what to expect from The Devil’s Blood.
Described as Occult Rock, this Netherlands band are simply addictive. I am really not a lover of female fronted bands but this she devil has a great voice, and is totally in keeping with the whole band aesthetic.
With an early 70’s rock psychedelic vibe, even touching on Hawkwind territory in places, the band worship the dark one in similarly ‘joyful’ way as Ghost without the gimmicks and probably better song writing.
This would have been in my top 10 of 2011 had I heard it during the last year.
